Onions are an indispensable ingredient of African and Indian cooking. However, the incredible health benefits of the humble onion are often unknown. A recent article published in the European Clinical Nutrition’s journal says that our immune system can be strengthened by consuming onion tea.

1 onion (cut into small pieces)
3 cloves garlic
2 tbsp honey
2 cups water
1 bay leaf
Into rapidly boiling water add the onion pieces and garlic cloves. Add the bay leaf and cloves after a minute. When the water turns brown in colour, pass it through a sieve. Add honey for sweetness
